No, Hell No, And Fuck No
Alcon Entertainment has purchased the rights to make a movie based on the characters and settings of Blade Runner, the 1982 sci fi classic. "From our point of view, the thematic core of the original movie — what does it mean to be a human being? — is even more relevant today than it was when the film came out. After all, we’re living in the industrial age of technology,” says Andrew Kosove, Alcon’s co-CEO.

Right, because making a sequel/prequel 30 years later to a film that has been an icon of cinema is a GREAT idea.

I don't have a problem with his, necessarily. That quote you posted is very true. This could be a good thing. After all, a sequel/prequel is a far more appealing thing that a *shudder* re-imagining.

anonimousguy is right. A story on NPR made the comment that if you tried to make The Godfather today, studio execs would put in a rap soundtrack and find a role for Justin Beiber.

I am now making offerings to all the gods and goddesses I can think of that Alcon Entertainment goes bankrupt before they finish shooting the first 5 minutes.
