Conservative groups are protesting this week's opening of the film "Kinsey," denouncing it as propaganda seeking to glorify the researcher whom they blame for inspiring the sexual revolution.
Ex-squeeze me?
My favourite line: "Alfred Kinsey is responsible in part for my generation being forced to deal face-to-face with the devastating consequences of sexually transmitted diseases, pornography and abortion," said Brandi Swindell, head of a college-oriented group called Generation Life that plans to picket theaters showing the film. Yeah, absolutely, Brandi, because, after all, if Kinsey (and associates) hadn't done all the research and published his scientific report on sexuality, you wouldn't have to face disease. Dig it, doll, disease is a reality, and you'd have to face it with or without Kinsey's research.
The other line that I thought was just as misguided, if not more so, was this one: "Instead of being lionized, Kinsey's proper place is with Nazi Dr. Josef Mengele or your average Hollywood horror flick mad scientist," said Robert Knight, director of Concerned Women of America's Culture & Family Institute. Yee-ah, Bob, way to compare: one was a researcher into human sexuality, and the other was the Third Reich's Angel of Death. They obviously belong in the same category.
Once again, the Ultra-Conservative Right has set aside this time to look like a bunch of complete mongoloids in public. It's always sad to see a group of coordinated and motivated people, wasting their time being jackasses. I mean, come on, i get bored too, but I can usually find SOMETHING better to do. Sure will be a nice day when these wackos realize that just because they are CALLED "the right", doesn't mean they ARE "right".
Hey, Brandi? Fuck you.
