Good News For A Change
Just got off the phone with purpleflake...dravengodvamp's court date went really well. They sentenced him to only two years, and chances are very good that he'll get out at his first hearing, which is only four months. Regardless, when he DOES get out, he's a free man, clear and no restrictions.

Considering the situation, that just about the best we could have hoped for. Never thought I'd be praising the Texas Justice system, but there ya go.

Current Mood: too fuckin' happy

I wish he had to spend no time away from those he loves but I am grateful the time can be short. =)

Yeah, at first it would seem better to have been let off with time served, but then he'd atill be under a heavy parole, and have to stay in Texas, which they don't want. This way, it's only a few months, and then he's a free man.

Damn your fast! I understand the "happiness" over the time in jail now. I was wondering at first but hey scott free over heavy parole and having to stay where you don't want to be? I'd take the time in jail any day. My heart just goes out to him being away from his child and the woman he loves. I know all too well what it is like being separated from the love of your life. Thankfully too the child is young. That certainly makes a world of difference.

wait...I missed something. what happened? what'd he do?

Well, the short version was this: when he originally moved to the PacNW, he had gotten a travel permit on his parole/probation. This was not a problem, but he never managed to get the parole transferred to Washington. Eventually, though, he moved back to texas, so it didn't matter. As it turns out, though, he came back 2 days after his travel permit ran out (he was unaware of this at the time). Couple months go by, no worries, no comment from his PO or anything, and he gets pulled over on a routine traffic stop (light over his license plate was out). They ran his driver's license and discovered a warrant out for his arrest, for jumping parole. Talk about bullshit! So he's been sitting in lock-up now for, what, three, four months? Fuckin' stupid.

Doug's like a brother to me, so this has really been hitting home. Add to that he just had a new baby girl not three weeks before this happened, and you can see why we want him free so badly.

it still is absurd that they gave him any time.

Hurray for him! That is fucking stupid, damn government and their "rules and regulations" Screw that, but at least they are giving him a break. Scott free is better than a damn parole, and being at the mercy of the system.
