Today was the first day of shooting that I was involved in with Flesh Of My Flesh. As the shooting location was a good 45 minutes away, and we were picking up another guy in the area, and we were supposed to be there at 9am, we got up good and early, so we could stop and get a bite to eat on the way. Well, up we got, things already packed the night before, and got out the door. We actually picked up hpl a little early and got going...and discovered that the roads were icy.
I've been begging for snow and ice all season, and the one day I have to be out on the roads, it ices over. The gods dislike me.
OK, so now that my passenger-seat paranoia was at an insane pitch, we crawled along the highway, seeing ass-loads of accidents and sliding cars and whatnot. Eventually, though, we arrived (about 9:30), to discover that the people with keys to the place were iced in somewhere, which was just as well since hardly anyone was there. Time passes, and we eventually get in, however, the make-up people aren't here yet.
OK, skip forward by around 11:30 or so, we finally had enough people and principles there to get going on make-up, etc. We never did get all the extras that were supposed to be there, but they slogged on anyway, getting as many good shots as they could. Honestly, most of the day was sitting around until you were needed, but in the meantime, I got to talk to a lot of very cool people.
Only real downside to the day was the sheer number of kids there. They had said OK to a couple kids, and somehow we ended up with a fucking GAGGLE of them, all running around, acting like idiots, and not being policed by the parents there. I'm not going into detail, just suffice it to say I didn't know who needed a swat in the ass worse, the kids or the parents.
Overall, though, we all had a blast. This promises to be an interesting film, and, if nothing else, I'm having a lot of fun being involved. Hell, I've even snagged a bit more of a part than just "member of zombie horde". Can't talk about it right now, I'm sworn to legally-binding secrecy. ;) Suffice it to say that it's hella cool, and I look kinda scary/tribal/mean. Di got pix of my make-up, maybe I'll post them eventually.
All good things must come to an end, though, and we headed out. We weren't certain if we were gonna be able to get home, because we were hearing some nasty things about the roads, but in the end it wasn't bad, and we got back about 11:30...so, yeah, a long fuckin' day. I'll have at least two, maybe three more of them in the next couple weekends...and I can't wait.
