Among many points, it concluded that she was in a persistent vegetative state, finding that she had massive and irreversible brain damage. In fact, they found her brain to weigh only 615 grams, roughly half of the expected weight of a human brain, which pretty well shows that she wasn't home, and no amount of therapy was gonna cure her.
Another interesting find was that the vision centres of her brain were dead, which means that she was blind. Funny, Dr. Bill Frist claimed she was responding to visual stimuli...keep that kind of tomfoolery in mind if he tries to run for president in 2008. And, just to clear up one more persistent charge, the examiners found no evidence that she was strangled or otherwise abused.
Sad that this situation went as far as it did. IMHO, this should never have gone any further than the family...who should have thought about her, and not themselves.
Next, we have the couple in Korea, who are in jail, due to their video-game playing habits? Why? Because it resulted in the death of their four-month-old baby.
They planned to only be gone an hour or two, they said. The couple, in their twenties, put their daughter to bed and left the home, heading down to a local PC café to play "World of Warcraft". Five hours later, they returned to find the child lying on her stomach, suffocated.
The really sad part? The wife's mother lives upstairs from them. Why they didn't leave the child with her is anyone's guess. Hey, I like my video-games, too, but, damn, priorities.
And, lastly, we come to my favourite of the day: A Fort Wayne Fort Wayne youth was shot by an acquaintance for making fun of how fast his buddy was eating his french fries. Yep, shot over fry-eating habits...no word on whether he was making fun of the guy for eating them slowly or quickly.
