So, today (yesterday) was Day 2 of the infamous wine rack creation...you know, building anything with Ray is kind of a chore. Not because he doesn't know what he's doing, he does, and he's pretty good at it. it's just that he gets the idea in his head about whatever he wants to do, and then he becomes very unlikely to hear any other possibilities. Add to this the fact that he has trouble hearing and sometimes following what I'm saying, and it makes for a comedy of errors. More than a few times, he's just gotten frustrated and more than a little pissy with me just because he doesn't understand what I'm saying or suggesting. More than a few times he's implied that I don't know what I'm talking about, when the math and physics bear me out. Needless to say, it gets to the point where you just kinda stop talking, say "whatever you wanna do, Ray," and just go on his direction. If it looks like shit in the end, well, everyone knows it's his fault.
Like this thing. Without going into a lot of useless detail, what we built to his measurements would not fit where it had to fit. He can't seem to understand why, but it meant dismantling almost everything we'd done to fix it. In the end, it's still not exactly right, and his suggestions to fix it again are only going to make it worse. I can only argue my point so many times to an ornery opponent, and eventually you just give up. Not because I'm wrong, but because you cannot win against someone who doesn't listen.
It's fucking tiring, let me tell ya.
Whatever, I'm done for this week. Friends over tomorrow night, Kick back Friday, John's place for all-day Civilization goodness, and as much CoH as I can cram into the remaining time. Hit level 39 tonight. Beddy bye time now.
Oh, side note; much thanks to all who responded to my question last night. Helped me think.
