Last I mentioned, Di had fallen out of bed, was going to the doc. Right. First off, I had to get Ray to PT/OT at 2:45, so I knew I wasn't gonna get home until 5:30. Latest day I've had, so far. I get Ray to his appointment, and call Di to see what's up. I get her friend, who says she's in the ER, they're checking her out, her fever got worse again and they were having trouble getting an IV in a vein due to dehydration.
Yeah, that made me feel much better.
So, with this in my head, I'm stuck for the next 2 1/2 hours until I can finally head out. I slip in the mud and hurt my knees, going to my car, and as I'm tooling down the road, Rose calls to let me know that Di is at Southwest General. Seeing as this is across the city (and, incidentally, right where I'd just come from) as opposed to the hospital a mile form our house, I was confused and less than perky. Turns out this is where her company will cover the ER visit, so it made sense eventually.
OK, so back across the city I go, again, and head into ER. I get there around 5:30 and find that I just missed them taking her to a CAT scan, so I wait around. Eventually she returns, and thus begins a very long night. By 9, they've decided they are going to admit her and keep her for a day or two, but that, at present, they don't have a bed free (yes, the hospital is full...good thing they are building a new wing, huh?). They say, as soon as they round one up, she's first on the list, but they dunno when that'll be. I called chaosreality back, as he'd called earlier, and asked him to get Di's CPAP machine and bring it up. I should have taken him up on the offer to grab food, but I didn't think it'd be a big deal. Eventually, they said things should be good to go, in another hour and a half or so, so I took the chance to run get food (it was 10:30 by this point, and I hadn't eaten all day).
OK, so, to make a long story short, they finally got her into a room at midnight, and I left around 12:30, after making sure she was set up and settled in and had answered the questions and interrogation form the nurse which she'd answered for at least three others before; why can't these medical types share a little info? Drives me ape. Anyway, left out, got home around 1am, passed out, woke up to my regular 5am engine-revving (please, for the love of all that's rockin', come kill this bastard), woke back up on time and came to the farm. I'm frickin' beat, baby.
Di called before I left, told me she had no fever and felt better. Rose called later, said she'd just seen Di, and she was doing well. They might go ahead and discharge her today, and if the timing is close enough, she'll just come here with Rose and I'll take her home, which would save me a trip. We'll see, i know they wanted to run some tests today.
I started to type "for some reason, Ray's driving me crazy today," but I'm fairly sure it's just due to my being tired. Still, I'm REALLY looking forward to not coming out here tomorrow. Christ, do I need a day off...except I won't get it, because tomorrow will be the first time I've had all week to get my own house in order. *sigh*
Oh, and I haven't forgotten you all. I really intended to go home last night and prepare a nice, big, Friday Pix for today, but obviously, that didn't happen. Soon!
