Game Reviews I Can Enjoy

I hate video game reviews. I hate them for the same reasons I hate movie reviews: the reviewers tend to either be paid mouthpieces, snivelling toadies who would praise any shit that came at them for fear of not getting the next swag the company tosses them for free, or assholes with an agenda who stomp on anything that's not Halo. I never feel like I can get an honest review out of them...and god forbid it allows fan reviews, in which case you might as well just shove a banana in your ear, for all the good it does you to read them. So, if I say I enjoyed a game review, it must either be really honest or hilariously funny. Maybe even both.

I give you "Zero Punctuation."

These started out at the author's website, Fully Ramblomatic, a site with the tagline "If Bruce Campbell were a website, he'd be this one" which is either great or arrogant or arrogantly great. He's now making these vids for Escapist Magazine which makes me think that, like all other great things picked up by companies, it will probably go right down the proverbial shitter.

In the meantime, though, it's fucking high-larious. Check out his commentary/review for:
- Fable: The Lost Chapter
- The Darkness (demo)
- Heavenly Sword (demo)
- Psychonauts

Here's hoping he doesn't lose momentum or focus.
