I don't recall where I got these, someone posted them to some place on LJ long, long ago. Still, they're incredibly useful, and thanks go out to that mysterious geek.

"LJ Jump" and "LJ Who"...what are they? They're bookmarks for quickly heading to someone's LJ or profile. Click the LJ Jump bookmark, and it'll prompt you for a user name, then take you to that journal. LJ Who, same thing, but to their profile page. Nifty, huh?

So, how to get them?

1. Make a new bookmark, doesn't matter what you are bookmarking because we'll be changing it in just a moment. If you're using Firefox, move on; if you're using IE, well, smack yourself, then make sure you name this bookmark LJ Jump or whatever you choose.

2. Right-click the new bookmark, choose 'Properties.'

3. For FF users, you can now change the bookmark name. In the URL field, get rid of what is there at the moment and add the following: javascript:void(q=prompt('Enter%20LJ%20username.',''));if(q)void(location.href='http://www.livejournal.com/users/'+escape(q))

4. Save the changes, and let 'er rip. For "LJ Who", do the same thing, but use the following in the URL field: javascript:void(q=prompt('Enter LJ username.',''));if(q)void(location.href='http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user='+escape(q)+'&mode=full')

I use these constantly. Now you, too, can be addicted.

These seem to fall under the class of bookmarklets.
There are a bunch of them (not specific to LJ) at the above link, should any of those be of interest to you.
