Hehe. I vaguely remember at one point early in elementary school some teacher suggesting that I switch to writing with my right hand. Thank goodness that idea was dismissed rather quickly. Had a hell of a time finding lefty safety scissors though.

Funny you should mention left-handed scissors.
I did get switched to being a right-handed cutter by the public school system, because somehow I ended up in a 1st grade class with six lefties and only 3 pairs of left-handed scissors. So instead of letting us take turns or fight about it, the teacher took them all away and made us learn to cut right-handed.
And after a while it was illegal for laypeople to read the bible.
Because it was causing heresies, like the rejection of indulgences and paid masses to keep their ancestors out of Limbo. And oh yes, rejection of the concept of Limbo.
Just for the record, Rabbis, even in the Talmud, sometimes argue that Leviticus wasn't intended to be a book about laws for EVERYBODY. It's called "Leviticus" for a reason. Cuz it's about the laws of priesthood. The Hebrew name "Vayikra" means and he called, and although it refers to God calling Moses so he could have a lil chat, it's also taken to represent the whole concept of "being called" as it were. And I could just go on like this, because the subject of religious books, folklore and shifting practice is one of my insane fascinations, but I should really shut up.
The other night I was called a religious fanatic for having a passionate stance on the history of a certain piece of religious law (not the practice of the law itself, just the history of it), which was ironic since we were sitting eating ice cream right after we'd all just had a very un-kosher meat and shellfish fueled dinner at the tapas bar next door. Israel is just special that way.
OMG!!! Yep, the left hand was the "evil" one in the dark age... I just wonder if they said the heart would be eveil as well cos it´s located more to the left side of the chest?
Evil is exactly what I wanted to say and its translation is exactly the right term in my native language. My apologies I didn´t use your language correctly.
I am a lefty mostly. When the doctors were considering cutting off my brother's right hand because of a tumor he had on his right hand ring finger, he and I both tried to use our off hands. I learned how, and so did he, but the docs instead settled on removing his finger. So, Brian became a nine-fingered boy at 15 years.
My grandmother (paternal) was naturally left handed but was forced to write with her off hand when she was in school (in the '30s of course) - it was always weird to watch her write as an adult because she had such adapted a contorted grip to make her right hand behave.
