Dianna's first, as she was there earlier to get pix from the prep work.
So it begins...
Nibbles and continued prep
Jasso and his gloves. Somehow, everyone made it through the entire event without once chanting "two by two, hands of blue"...
Your humble narrator chopping onions, garlic, and leeks for
Head Chef Ferreira, working on the veggies. We might all have been contributing, but it sure as shit was Mike's kitchen. Seriously, the boy ruled his domain well, and kept all of us sous-chefs busy. ;)
One of the pans of completed beggar's purses. Damn, they were tasty.
Once everything was ready and laid out and cheered for, Peltier carved the bird and I carved the boar. Dual carving action, baby.
Here's some shots from
The spread. Funny, doesn't look like as much, from here...but damn, was it ever a ton...
Another angle
A great shot of me, Miller, Erik, and Dianna. No idea what I was saying that made Miller look at me so oddly.
Miller taught Erik to play "Kill/Save Mr. Snowman", which, obviously, he got a huge kick out of. Not often that Captain Introspective, there, lets out that kind of smile in public!
Peltier strikes a pose
A different angle on the ham carvin'.
There was much beer to be had. Oh, there was beer. And beer. And did I mention we had beer?
Bruce assists Mike in veggie-work.
Luis shows off his rockin'est orange and clove decorating skill.
Aftermath: our Founder of the Feast and his beautiful lady take a much-deserved rest.
There are a few people in the world who are close enough to me that I consider them to be my Family, my Tribe. Sadly, they are spread over a wide area, so a gathering that is supposed to be "family-oriented" is rarely a time that I can have them near. However, this Thanksgiving, I truly had a reason to be thankful, as I was able to spend it with not just one but two of my Brothers. Thanks, guys.
Christ, Miller's right, I am tall....
