Burn The World

After my rant about Congress pushing this new bill (which I also mailed to a couple of mailing lists I'm on), I actually had some naive bung-munching whitebread tell me "the government has survived worse than this, it just needs a tune-up...you wanna make a difference? Get out and vote. Wanna REALLY make a difference? Run for office."

How moronic can you get? How incredibly naive...since when is it my job to teach these people about life and the world? Christ, sometimes I want to just let them all BURN.

OK, tonight starts the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival. Three days of interesting movies...screw you, MPAA; fuck off, Hollywood.

caliban and 01flux should be here by the middle of the afternoon, and we'll all hgead out to karzon's, who lives around the corner from the venue. I hear delilahbowie will be joining us tomorrow, which kicks way too much ass to comment on. I'm hoping to run into gravesme as well, and I have to make sure we all cheer for his part in 'The Ressurectionist'.

I'm thinking I might have to pull out a one-shot 'Call Of Cthulhu' game, since I'll have friends around. We'll see.

Stupid, Stupid, Stupid

I am/have been a musician...singer specifically. So here I am, quietly looking for a new band, since I moved...I'm not desperate yet, because it wouldn't be that easy to work out anyway, but I keep my eyes open. I look over a lot of 'musician's want ads' kinda places, and I have to laugh...a lot. Why?

Because when you are posting an ad asking for interested parties, and you list 20 bands as 'influences', and NONE of them are big enough for 99% of people to have heard them, it's kinda pointless. OK, you have a sound you want, sure (though, 20 bands of influences covers a lot of ground), and if any of that 1% sees it, and responds, you'll hopefully get it, but come ON! That's just way damn funny to me...

...but, then, people in GENERAL make me laugh.

(no subject)

"If we find our government in all its branches rushing headlong... into the arms of monarchy, if we find them violating our dearest rights, the trial by jury, the freedom of the press, the freedom of opinion, civil or religious, or opening on our peace of mind or personal safety the sluices of terrorism, if we see them raising standing armies, when the absence of all other danger points to these as the sole objects on which they are to be employed, then indeed let us withdraw and call the nation to its tents."
