I've had more than a few nicknames over the years...some in general use, some as only "titles", a few as insults. I am proud to carry 'Mad Professor' and 'Encyclopaedia Chaotica' as two of them, and I got them for a reason. This is going to sound bitchy and arrogant, and I'm OK with that, but the fact of the matter is that, 99% of the time, I'm right.
I don't mean opinions about things...we all know that opinions are like assholes (everybody's got one and they all stink). But, dammit, I'm proud of the fact that I can look at anything objectively and logically, and give advice that isn't based on some emotional attachment or position of faith. Besides, I've damn well been through a lot of shit in my life, more than most, and that experience has made me into quite a character...but that experience helps.
On top of that, I've always liked to learn, no matter what the subject. I'm a veritable storehouse of knowledge, more of it useless than useful. Plenty of people have figured out that you can ask me almost anything, and I can answer it with at least an iota of knowledge, and if I can't, I'll find out. Obviously, I can be a real bitch to play 'Trivial Pursuit' against. ;)
What does all this sum up to? Not much, really. I don't think I'm actually that arrogant about my IQ, I just happily get to use it to help my friends out when they wanna know something. I'm also happy to be anybody's counselor/sounding board/psychiatrist, and goddess knows there are a few that seem happy I'm there. OK, I take it back, I was, not too long ago, VERY arrogant about my IQ, but it was to someone that was, frankly, asking for it.
What brought all this on? Eh, ner0sputnik
mentioned in a post today that something I'd said a while back was right...and my brain just sorta spiraled from there. Go ahead, lambast me for being an arrogant sonuvabitch, I admit to it.
