Tiger By The Tail

Seigfreid & Roy. Just the name has already conjured up the image of two effeminate guys, prancing around a stage in sequins with a couple of tigers, doing "illusions". Cripes, how long have these guys been around? Did you realize they are pushing 60? That they've been performing this same damn show in Vegas for 30 years, at 8 shows a week for 44 weeks each year? Hell, they have their own theatre at the Mirage.

Personally, I was never impressed with them, but that's probably because they seemed more Vegas show-off than substance to me. I was a weird kid, to say the least: I always wanted to see one of those beautiful tigers just tear hell out of one of them. And now, it seems that, when it finally happened, I missed it.

Yes, that's right, Roy Horn was attacked and dragged offstage by a tiger that was new to the show. There are so many details to this story that make me giggle, and I don't care if that makes me look like a bad person. Like the fact that, as the tiger lunged at him, Roy is described as trying to 'beat him off with the microphone'...small mic, big tiger. Like the fact that Seigfreid came onstage a few minutes later to tell that the show was cancelled, and is described as 'visibly upset'...well, DUH, his life-long partner's neck has been savaged by a tiger. Like the fact that a medic said 'we would characterize his wounds as severe or serious'...as opposed to, what, all the minor, pansy, little froo-froo tiger attacks, I guess.

Well, it was bound to happen someday. I do actually wish him the best of luck on recovery as soon as possible.

Shout Outs

Gotta give a birthday hug and shout out to delilahbowie, my favorite pirate girl whose bosoms are to be feared but who overall is to be loved.

Also, I discovered that I missed one yesterday, due to having no actual idea that it was his birthday, so a big day-late shout out goes to highndry! Hope it was a good one!
