(I say that a lot, don't I? Maybe some people should take the hint.)
OK, this is out of flippin' hand. You know, it's one thing when you are gonna use the dirty details to justify a divorce...hey, if that is what led to the break, then more power to ya. but if it has nothing to do with anything? Who cares?
Most people are at least familiar with Jeri Ryan (the sexy Borg-chica from 'Star Trek:Voyager'). Apparently, she used to be married to a US Senator, and now is not...OK, fine so far. They are in some legal dispute about custody of their son. Some documents from these proceedings were just unsealed (and I have a new rant on that, further down), and in them, she alleged that he took her to sex clubs and asked her to engage in sexual activity in front of other patrons. Seems she wouldn't go to the first, went to the second but wouldn't bang him in front of others, and at a third cried until he agreed to leave, telling her that "crying wasn't a turn-on". he is maintaining that no such things happened, and that he has "abided by every single law" and "abided by [his] marriage vows". Interestingly enough, she has released a statement saying that "there was never any physical abuse in our marriage -- either to myself or to our son -- nor, to my knowledge, was he ever unfaithful to me."
So, in conclusion...what the fuck does this have to do with anything? Nothing. It doesn't have a single thing to do with custody battles. Both of them are on crack, in my opinion: these facts are irrelevant to the case, and his statements are irrelevant to her accusations (which is kind of a standard governmental technique, I guess). Buncha stupid publicity craperoo, if you ask me.
Speaking of craperoo, about these documents being unsealed: Several Chicago media organizations had sued for release of documents relating to the Ryans' divorce, saying the public interest outweighed their concerns about privacy and the possible effect on their now 9-year-old son. Friday, a judge in Los Angeles, where their divorce was litigated, agreed to unseal portions of more than 360 pages of documents, although large parts remained blacked out.
Why are a bunch of Chicago media so interested in an LA divorce, first off, but more importantly, how is the 'public interest' here more important than their own privacy and the effect anything might have on their 9-year old son? CHRIST, I hate humans sometimes...
