Progression

Erik's last swim class was today, so I went to watch, and I have to say, I was very proud of him. Dunking his head under and staying there a few seconds, splashing around, going down the waterslide...all this from the kid that used to freak out if he got any water on his face! Just felt great to see him so confident, since he has a little problem with that sometimes. of course, since we were all there (well, not all of us, Fucknut and his Pudge weren't there, ha ha), the show-off in him came out a little, but that was cool, it was just good to see how far he'd come.

Met his teacher and his aide, too, which was cool...the aide is pretty cool. I guess she was glad to meet me, finally, since it seems Erik talks about me a lot, about things we do together and such. Yeah, yeah, colour me proud. Just felt good.

As a side note, I wanted to thank everyone, again, for the letters and postcards you've sent dravengodvamp during this trying time. he says it's helped to keep his sanity intact, and I believe it. I may have to transcribe some of his latest letter, since it speaks to more than just me, but to you guys, too. On a personal note, it means a lot to me, as well, and to purpleflake, who I talked to this morning.

TV Anchorwoman Appears Nude On Newscast

I gotta give some props here. *WARNING* - NSFW links ahead*

I dunno how many of you are familiar with Spencer Tunick's photography, but it's been controversial, to say the least. This is probably because his work centers around nudes and there are entirely too many uptight, whiny prudes in the world. Not "artistic nudes" though, 99% of the time, but rather huge group shots in interesting locations.

Anyway, I guess one of his latest shoots was in Cleveland, and the local news station decided to cover the story in a different way...one of the show's anchors signed up to be a part of it, and the video of the experience was shown on the 11 o'clock news. Warnings were given, of course, but she did it and they showed it.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not thinking this was all about the art. It was a ratings coup, as well, no doubt. Still, though, she handled the whole thing very well, and I am impressed. "I'm my own person. I don't do anything I don't want to do for any job, or anything," she said. She also said that she expected the video of it to be on the Internet by 11:31, and that she was OK with that, since she was comfortable with herself and didn't so anything she didn't want to do or remember...so much kudos to her. You go, girl.

No, I don't have the video (I'm sure it's out there somewhere), but I did find some stills from the broadcast. For whatever reason, this is one journalist who gets my respect...and, at risk of being a pig, I gotta say, she's a hottie, to boot. ;)

Kill, Baby, Kill

You know, not everyone is lucky enough to have a significant other who is perfectly happy to fire up UT2K4 and join you in assault after assault after bloody, vicious, hard-fragging assault. But I sure am...

Ah, the family that slays together, stays together.
