Reset, Take Two

I have no idea why I was up at 5 o'clock this morning, but it's not my normal mode of life, fer sher. Still, I'm finally starting to be really conscious. And, as a present to myself today, I now have all four 'Silent Hill' games, so I'm uber-happy.

And it may be a little early to start drinking, by some standards, but not for the Irish (where it's presently mid-afternoon, if I calculate correctly). So consider this my toast to you, my friends, on this day:
There are good ships, and there are wood ships, the ships that sail the sea,
But the best ships are friendships, and may ours ever be.

Saint Patrick was a gentleman,
Who through strategy and stealth,
Drove all the snakes from Ireland,
Here’s a toasting to his health.
But not too many toastings
Lest you lose yourself and then
Forget the good Saint Patrick
And see all those snakes again.
Sláinte go saol agat!

Sneaky, sneaky. While most of you guessed that the taller man would have a longer reach, therefore him standing on top WOULD make a difference, only a couple of you figured out that the cabin with the three frozen bodies was an airplane cabin, and had crash-landed there in the past. How about this one for today?
Dan Manly was revisiting his home town when an old friend visited. "Hey, Dan, how have you been? It must be 15 years since we last saw each other." "At least that," replied Dan. "I've been keeping well, but tell me about yourself." "I'm married now, but to someone you wouldn't know. By the way, this is my daughter." Dan looked down at the little girl and asked her name. "It's the same as my mother's," the little girl replied. "Then I bet your name is Susan," said Dan. How could he know?
Purposely did not do one involving leprechauns.

I'm Such A Scapegoat

discordian and I, talking about his recent temporary move to Ohio...
discordian: .... watch, something's going to happen, and I'm going to end up staying here for like 8 years.
discordian: I'm gonna do something stupid like fall in love or something.
archmage: Shut up, fate-tempting
discordian: Oh, I'm expecting it.
discordian: Our lady can't just pass up an opportunity like this.
archmage: Which is why you shouldn't tempt her
discordian: Yeah... you know... I don't think it much matters in my case. I must have a bullseye or something on my ass.
archmage: Quite possibly
discordian: And I blame you.
archmage: Me?
discordian: Yes you.
archmage: Why me?
discordian: Hell, I don't know. But can you think of anyone more likely to be responsible for something like that?
archmage: Hmmm....
archmage: Nope.
discordian: So I blame you.
archmage: OK, I accept that.

Something Good Came From The Tsunami

Yes, believe it or not. According to this article, not only were ruins of an ancient city seen as the waves pulled back before the initial waves, but as six feet of beach was scrubbed away by the tides, it uncovered boulders carved with animals, gods, and servant girls.

Needless to say, archaeologists are excited. And with these discoveries, something else important was brought back to the area -- tourists. Tourists arriving means more cash coming into the area...monies desperately needed for rebuilding, etc. Tourism also means more jobs, and with so many people needed to re-establish their lives, this is a blessing.

Pretty damn cool, eh?
