(no subject)

Well, sadly, divinemissb and zombiedip were both feeling less than perfect, so no game last night. Ah well, called John and cancelled, and watched The Chronicles of Riddick again...man, I love those flicks. Here's hoping the other two sequels that have been talked about go through.

Speaking of games, I'm making plans for my next big AD&D campaign. Looks like I'm setting it in the Red Steel/Savage Coast area again (I really like that setting), starting off as 0-level characters, for a change. Should be interesting. Also, was wearing my 'critical fumble' shirt yesterday (a d20 turned to the number 1 and the small caption "shit."), and my neighbour came by, asking if I had any charcoal. Funny thing, he actually knew what that meant. I'd have lost that bet...claimed he was the only one of his friends that knew what "3d8+5 damage" meant. Normally, that place next door annoys me with the ruckus and whatnot coming from it, but to think, there's a gamer right next door. Too bad I'm probably moving in two months.

Strange dreams last night, live-action stuff that was quite obviously game-related, and yet cinematic, starting cruel and ending odd. Lots of recognizable people and cool stuff, definitely one of the more interesting dreams I've had in a while....and no, I'm not typing it all out. Too long, wouldn't make sense when put in black and white, and this way I don't have to name names of people involved.

Hungry. Odd mood.

Setting up Di's new computer tonight and tomorrow. Always an interesting time.

Correct, my friends: the nail would get no higher, because plants grow from the tips, not from the bottom. Ready for the Weekend Three?
1. Two cyclists rode their bicycles up and down a hill. they averaged ten kilometres per hour on the way up, and twenty kilometres per hour on the way down. What was their average speed for the entire trip?
A. 11 kph
B. 13.33 kph
C. 15 kph
D. 16.66 kph

2. If boiling water is poured into a thick drinking glass as well as a very thin wine glass, which is more likely to crack? Explain.

3. Shadow drove into the Speedy Service Station and pulled up to the pumps. "Fill it up please, "said Shadow. "This may sound strange, " said the owner, "but I'd rather fill two cars from out of town than one car from this town." Shadow looked across the small town and replied, "I know just what you mean." Why would the owner feel this way?

New Machine Setup

Well, phase one is complete. Di's new system, dubbed "PinkPanther", is up and running, firewalled and virus-scannered, internet-connected, and the sound card installed. Now phase two begins, as I let her loose on it to reinstall all her programs, etc. Only had one issue with 'net connectivity...but rebooting the router fixed it. Always check the dumb things first!

I had the GeForce 4 out of the Banshee to use as a videocard, but there was a small problem. First off, when I originally installed it in the Banshee, oh-so-long ago, one of the transistors or whatever those cylindrical things are got bent, and bent back into place, making it weak. It still worked, so I didn't worry about it. Well, as I went to put it into the new box, that little thing popped right off. On top of that, the card wouldn't fit the motherboard anyway...so, gonna have to get her a new vidcard one day soon. That made me feel really bad and really pissed, but nothing I can do about it now.

Only other issue I discovered was that my plan for hooking her old harddrive to the system to let her transfer music and video files fell apart, due to lack of proper IDE cables. However, it hooks to MY system just fine...thank you, home networking. And, at this point, maybe I'll just keep that drive when this is all over.

Well, time to relax now. Man, I didn't realize how much I missed smoking until I had to do a full system setup without a cigarette.
