Rob Zombie's Halloween

So, it's official: Rob Zombie will write and direct the newest Halloween movie.

Now, as much of a horror fan as I am, I really think the Halloween franchise has been abused enough that it should probably be allowed to die. Think about it, the first two were coherent and connected, and they chose to get off of the "continuing storyline" thing to do number three (Season of the Witch). When that didn't work, they went back to the Myers storyline, each time getting stranger and stranger in an attempt to not be just another "unkillable stalker" series. When that finally went so far that no one had ANY idea what to do next...they abandoned it completely, made Halloween: H20 to try and close it all out, and felt good about it (and, in all truth, it was pretty good). But we all know people can't leave well enough alone; one more was made, and even Busta Rhymes' fun and funky self couldn't save what was, basically, a pile of craperoo.

Now, with all that said...if anyone can make a Halloween film worth watching, it's Rob Zombie. Hell, I'd watch it even if he wasn't connected to it, because, well, I'm a glutton for punishment. But with him behind it, I'll actually look forward to it. So here's hopin'.

Well, That Kinda Says It All

Lioness in zoo kills man who invoked God - KIEV (Reuters) - A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal's enclosure, a zoo official said on Monday. "The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," the official said. "A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery."

Calling on alleged aetherial beings to save your life when common sense works much better is foolish. It's not nice to fool with Mother Nature.

Fact - yet one more
Religion - zilch, again

I'm Such A Homebody

- Slept a little funky for the second night running. Not too bad, just something I had to shake off before I could get my shit together. Glad I did, though, sine I had house cleaning to do today, and laundry, and a fish tank to clean, and I should go get dinner started...but that's gonna wait, sine Dianna is gonna be a little late.

- Still trying to grow out this split/fucked-up fingernail. Really fuckin' tired of catching it on every damn thing.

- Haven't really talked about the diet/weight loss I've been trying to do. However, it is going well. Last time I weighed myself, sometime before I started (should have done it just as I started, but didn't), I had hit 308. Yeah, that was depressing. Anyway, been trying to get more exercise (and not always doing that, sadly) and been very careful about my calorie intake, and I'm pretty damn happy to say I'm down to 288, as of Sunday. Still feeling good, haven't been starving, knees are feeling better, so this all must be working, huh? If I can make it to 250, I'm gonna be a happy guy. If I can get back into my leather pants or my really-comfy-but-hideously-coloured dragon pants, I'll be REALLY happy.

- Snagged some nifty flicks at the movie exchange. Found Fulci's House by the Cemetery, the "ultimate edition" of The Mummy, the 35th anniversary edition of Planet of the Apes, and a kung-fu flick I've been trying to find for years, Ninja Wars. Yeah, not bad, not bad at all.
