The Mask (Laughing)

A man appeared before St. Peter at the Pearly Gates.
"Have you ever done anything of particular merit?" St.Peter asked.
"Well, I can think of one thing," the man offered. "On a trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota, I came upon a gang of bikers who were threatening a young woman. I directed them to leave her alone, but they wouldn't listen. So, I approached the largest and most heavily tattooed biker and smacked him in the face, kicked his bike over, ripped out his nose ring, and threw it on the ground. I yelled, "Now, back off, or I'll kick the shit out of all of you!"
St. Peter was impressed. "When did this happen?"

"Couple of minutes ago."

You know, I slept really good last night, so I was looking forward to a good day. Already this morning, I've been frustrated enough to need to leave my house and find something to break, disappointed enough in myself to feel pretty low, and stupid enough to go through all the actions of getting something done, only to screw up one little thing at the end that makes me have to do it all over again.

Some days, it's a good thing I don't own a gun.

Thunder? Lightning? These things don't happen here...oh, but they do today, i guess. Presently hailing like a mother fucker. Even flickered the power for a quick flash, just before it started coming down. Not enough to affect my clocks, but just enough to make my machine reboot.

...while I was playing CoH, in the last room of a mission that I had been steadily working my way through for almost an hour. Which I'll now have to restart and do over again. *sigh*

Y'know, I was already not doing well today.

So, that weather thing earlier? Apparently, there was a tornado here. Like, a couple miles away, give or take. I had no idea until afterward, when swanwhite, chaosreality, and whinygeneral all called to see if things were OK here. And yes, perfectly fine at my house.

You know, sometimes someone close to you can not only tell you what you need to hear, but is close enough to be able to put it in a strong enough way that you'll listen to the point of hearing things that you'd normally get angry about, but which you know are right and what you need to hear. That's proof of how close someone is to you, right there. Thank you, brother, I needed that.

R.I.P. Sir Edmund Hillary - Sir Edmund Hillary, the mountaineer and explorer who won worldwide acclaim in 1953 by becoming the first to scale the 29,035-foot summit of Mount Everest has died at age 88. If ever someone could be called a hero, as in someone to look up to, it was he.

Hollywood workers take a beating over Golden Globes cancellation - OK, I can only imagine the numbers of people who would have been working that are now not, what with the show itself not happening and all the parties, etc. That's a lot of work lost, and I am sorry for that. At the same time, though, I've been sick of what these award shows have become for years. In my own opinion, it should never have gotten this bad, regardless, so I'm not shedding a tear for it's loss. Frankly, I think it's too bad that it'll just come back stronger next year. This overdone schmaltz and bullshit, it's a waste.

Going to bed early tonight. Gonna get some more sleep, and get my head on straight, so I don't act like such a fucktard again. Yeah, sometimes you just go too far, even if it wasn't intentional.

Anyway, the Tribe counts for a lot.
