Went out yesterday to try and grab a physical copy of the newest CoH release. Didn't really need it, but it would be nice to have a disc that is current up to now (my old copies are now 7 issues out of date, and reinstallation requires a lot of patching!), and besides, the newest costume pack would be included in the price, so it was cost effective for it and a month of game time, anyway.

Now, as connected to the 'Net as I am, you'd expect that I did some quick and easy research online to determine the closest place to grab my copy was. Ordinarily, you'd be right, but apparently, my brain went on a quick trip to Bermuda and forgot to leave me a note. thus, I ran around to Target, Fred Meyer, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy, all of which are apparently not carrying it at all. This floors me, really. OK, I know CoH isn't the biggest MMO out there, but c'mon, it IS the only superhero themed one. Besides, it has lasted 5 years while many, many others have fallen to the wayside, and even the impending release of Champions Online hasn't daunted it.

Needless to say, I was not happy.

I returned to the house to find my brain sprawled in my chair, full of tropical drink and looking fashionably tan. After slapping it upside the lobe, I put it back in my head and did the sensible thing. Howd'ya like that, Game Stop carries it, and there's one a whopping mile and a half away. So, ran down there today and nabbed the last copy they had on the shelf, got a little geek talk in with the guy at the counter, and triumphantly returned home to tear up the roof of my mouth on a tasty but over-toasted Italian panini sammich.

All is once again right with the world, I suppose.
