I'm noticing a disturbing trend lately. You have seen me talk about the various models and photographers I know and have helped, and I tend to keep up with all of their work, or at least as much as I can find.
What I am noticing is a marked lack of creativity. The occasional shoot or model will do something different, but mostly I see the same expressions, the same poses, the same lighting, the same looks. Obviously, this varies from model to model, and from photog to photog, but I'd have thought in a place as BRIMMING with camera talent (on both sides of the lens), the competition alone would help make it more interesting. But so much of it is uninspired. Hell, not only do different shoots look the same, but within a particular shoot, too many shots are the same. Just more and more of the one thing...boring.
Now, I'm not gonna mention any names. I know too many photogs and models (hell, my soulmate is a model!), and this isn't directed at anyone specific anyway. I just would like to see a bit of creative resurgence. No more shooting for the vainglorious ability to have more pictures, but shooting for the art of it.
Well, enough of that. I've prolly just pissed off a few people.
