Film Title?

OK, there's a flick that I'm trying to remember the title of, and for the life of me, it won't come to mind. If you know me, you know how frustrating this is.

Main thing I remember is that it involved some dark creatures in an alternate dimension, or something like it. At the end, the girl who has been the protagonist is in a small room (hospital? house? Not sure) with a bed and an empty closet. A cop that she's been dealing with comes in to see her, but she's not there when he arrives. he looks around, confused, and looks into the empty closet that is standing open. Inside, there is only a single wire hanger. He stares for a moment...did the hangar just twitch, ever so slightly? He gives up, there's nothing to see, and he turns to leave. The POV switches to the inside of the closet, where the girl is in darkness, just beyond a thin membrane between the real world and this insubstantial other world of darkness. She's reaching out, wanting the cop to see her, help her, pull her back out, but it's no good, he doesn't sense her. Hands begin to reach out of the darkness behind her, pulling her deeper...she's trapped.

I don't recall any of the actors, the director, or anything that would help me research the film. Di and I both recall the scene from when we saw the film several years ago (rented it). Don't remember now if this was the actual ending or an alternate ending on the DVD. If it rings a bell, though, say something, it's driving me nuts.
