So, in the end, Mike's machine will work fine with a hard line. There's some kind of error in the wireless, and we only had the first inklings of tracking it down, but not what to do about it yet. It was getting late, though, and we all were ready to call it a night. At some point in the near future, we'll try to work on it again, but, for now, at least he's got connectivity through direct line.

Me, I'm all for that, it's more secure and a helluva lot easier to deal with than wireless. it';s a desktop machine, anyway, i's not like it's gonna move to need the mobility of a wireless connection. Still, it just irks me to no end to get so close to a problem and run into a brick wall. Such is the lament of the amateur tech.
