God of Thunder and Rock'n'Roll

Good times. Damn good times. Rock Band and hang time at Steven and Nicole's place, where Sharon joined us, we met Steven's girlfriend Stacy, their roommate Carrie, and friends Karen and Erika (the biggest Star Wars geek ever...yes even more than matrixleap!).

Sure, Rock Band was as fun as always, but the best part of it was the company. Partly just for being fellow goofy geeks, partly for being relaxed. A big part of it was the personal invitation. This wasn't a "hey, people should show up" situation, this was a "hey, we're inviting you specifically to come over"...to the extent where they went through a mutual friend to get the word to us, due to not having our direct phone numbers.

Dig it, that felt good. Made me feel like my presence was valued for itself, not just as another warm body. Makes a huge difference, and it's something I really needed (unbeknownst to them). I had said before that I wanted to continue to cultivate the friendship with these people, and this just made it even more desired.

Side note: got highly complimented on my singing. That felt good, too.

Anyway, made future plans for more geekery, including being invited to a big session of Civilization in a couple weeks. Better brush up on my empire building...
