WoW Moments

Most of you won't know what this is or care, but for my fellow Warcraft players, dig what I lucked into today:

Even with it not being usable outside of AQ40, it still counts for the sheer numbers (and the Feat of Strength!) and puts me at 97 mounts. That Dragonhawk is so close I can feel it...

EDIT: Since someone wanted to know: in WoW, you can obtain various mounts to ride on. Many are easy to get (for instance, the ones that are connected to your race, and others in your faction). Others can be earned through hard work and reputation gains (the Nether Drakes or the Silver Covenant Hippogryph). Many others are rare, random drops that obtaining means either a lot of luck or farming the one that drops it over and over and hoping (the Raven Lord or the Fiery Warhorse). As you can imagine, some mounts are a badge of honor to show off.

As you play, you have missions that you can pretty much handle yourself, and dungeons that take a team of 5. As you get further, there are raids which can take 10, 25, or even 40 people to handle. More people = bigger perils = better loot. One of the largest in the original game is the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj, one of the only 40-man raids. Set in the deep desert of Silithus, the Qiraji (an insectoid race that once had a vast empire, now fallen, and who serve the elder god C'Thun) maintain what foothold they can in the world. With a raid that big, there were four mounts that would drop off of enemies there, insectoid "battle tanks" that could only be summoned and ridden inside the raid. Of them, the rarest is the red, with a drop rate 5-8 times less than the other three (yellow, green, and blue). The rarity is such that getting one earns the player an achievement, just for having it (called "Why? Because It's Red!"). Hell, when I told my guild members about it, one of them was exceptionally jealous because in all the times he's done that raid (and it's a LOT!), he's never had one drop.

Now, my main toon is an achievement whore. Those of you with whom I have played CoH know what I'm like. There is an achievement in WoW for having a lot of mounts. The first two steps ("Stable Keeper" for 10 mounts and "Filling Up The Barn" for 25) are just nice, but the third ("Leading The Cavalry" for 50) gives you a special mount, the Albino Drake (a pale dragon). The last step, though, is "Mountain o' Mounts", for 100, and that gives you a Dragonhawk flying mount. Not only is it a pain to get, as you can imagine, but there's only 3 in the game, and only this one is obtainable by the Alliance. If a Horde toon got this, they'd get a different color, and they can buy one elsewhere in the game, so, for an Alliance toon, this is something to be really proud of.

Yes, I want it, and getting the Red Qiraji Battle Tank puts me at 97. Almost there...
