Calling For Help
OK, local Portland-ites, I need your help. I woke up this morning to find an IM from Jo (krazyfelioness), and she is not doing well at all. I've not seen her this bad. I'm not sure just what all is the problem, as the IM was pretty disjointed and rambling, but I can tell she's in a very bad place. Being house-bound isn't helping, and being there alone is a factor, too. She's stuck there with only her thoughts and her pain, as far as I can tell. Plus, you know she's an emotional person, and it looks as though there's a lot of things piling up on her.

So, seeing as how I'm on the opposite freaking coast, there's not a lot I can do. Hopefully, some of you can go by and check on her, see if she could use some help, or at the least, some company. She mentioned, too, someone that she might be able to contact, but she could use some help in doing it.

I know this may be a lot to ask and I recognize that she can be a lot to deal with. I'm aware that not everyone can or wants to put in the kind of energy that it takes to do this, but I hope that at least a few of you can help her out. I can't begin to imagine what she'll be like in person, but someone needs to go check on her, see what's what, and give her a hand.

I'm in Corvallis, which is about as local to Portland as Rye is to New York, with worse public transit. But I could take a bus up there if it's worthwhile. As I don't know her personally, if this would be useful, more details on her situation would be useful to *me*. Email is polydad8 at yahoo, if you'd prefer to continue conversation there.

Joel, I've said it before, you're a gentleman and a scholar. In this case, though, as much as the offer is appreciated, I know Miss Jo and she'd probably not be comfortable with someone she didn't know. Thanks, though, m'man, it's good to know there are people out there willing to help.

And likewise good to know that there are folks out there like you who *do* go looking for the help. I'll trust you to do whatever's good here, then.

I don't know the lady, but I can always lend a hand.

You're absolutely right: she's not doing well at all. But I wanted to let you know that I spent the evening with her, and will continue to check up on her. I've been lax about it over the last few months, and I have quite a few choice words for myself on that front.

Thanks for being awesome and caring and putting the vibes out into the universe.

Eh, the past is not as important as the present. Thanks for checking in on her, that puts my mind at ease.
