From The Self-Blowing Horn Department
There's a forum I'm active in online that has to do with a major interface add-on for Warcraft. As I use it and really like it, I've been pretty vocal there, not just with ideas and suggestions, but answering other users' questions, when I can. I started to wonder if I was overstepping myself, jumping in where the actual programmer would prefer to handle things. Not wanting to hijack his work, I left him a message, making sure he knew I'd back off if I seemed to be over-reaching myself, and thanking him for his work.

I got a response today, very cool, very friendly. Not only did he say it was cool and appreciated, he said he considered me "a resource to the community" and would have promoted my status there.

That's a good feeling.
