Looking for a job is depressing.
Looking for a job in a small town is even more depressing.
Looking for a job in a small town when you haven't worked in 10 years is even more depressing.
Looking for a job in a small town when you haven't worked in 10 years and you don't have any career/skills to speak of is just the fuckin' pits.

Can I just add to this the fact that I haven't updated my driver's license to this state, and all the ID, etc. that i need to do this is in Portland? And I need the job for money to get the shit out here, but I need that stuff for the license, which most jobs want me to have? Fuck me sideways...

How does one go about getting your papers to you if they live in Portland?

Re: Question
Well, see, here's the deal on that. When I was moving out, everything I owned got boxed up, and stored in madeofmeat's storage area. The plan was that I was moving out to my Dad's place in Wisconsin, getting a job, and there was a chance at having a connection int he trucking biz to get my stuff shifted for free. Of course, I ended up coming all the way to VA, I haven't worked, and the shipping thing never happened.

Problem is that those papers are all in those boxes, and I couldn't begin to tell you which box has what.

Re: Question
Hell, man...maybe I can get a hold of Andy, and, if you're cool with it, we can double team all the stuff and go thru it all, grab what you need and send it your way.

We should talk about this. I mean, you need it all, and it'll help you.

Re: Question
Well, it could be a possibility. I was smart enough to write the general kind of contents on most of the boxes ("Videos", "Toys", etc.). I'm pretty sure that the things I need the most are in my old chain wallet, which would have been on my desk. Pretty sure that there were small boxes labelled "Desk" or something like that. let me confirm what I really need before we do anything, and if it's a small enough kind of thing, then maybe we can proceed with this. You saw how much room there was down there, this might be more of a production than it needs to be.

I feel you, man. I have my own version of the "no-win" happening here. If I have any bright ideas about your situation, I will let you know.

I would like to say something because I take lil LJ positive vibes from your Friday pics so I want to try to leave some here as well. I hope this reads right. You seem like a busy guy, do the stuff you do and maybe it can be of use to someone else. That could lead to employment stuff that is already the stuff you enjoy. Like this computer stuff could lead you to teach something to someone in need. Perhaps the library or a day care youth/adult center. Plus all the home stuff you do, there are tons of seniors who do share a ride stuff that is endlessly important. Hospitals love a day program to offer especially if you are willing to offer it for free. If nothing else it boosts the resume. I was offline for a bit and when I came back I saw you had taken me off your list so I was reluctant to make any contact since I didn't know if you remembered me, especially because we don't know each other:p

In any case would try to remind myselfthat it is the economy, it isn't personal, right?

So depression is not in the cards. :)

All possibilities, for sure, and the support is always appreciated. Incidentally, the only reason I removed you was that I thought you were gone for good, so it was just housecleaning. I've now added you back. ;)

I should add that I may leave positive word but I may not always manage to apply such things in my own day to day but possibilities for you I suppose. I don't live in a small town, so, being gone, is not an option. Unless you know how one can be gone from all this fantasticalness.

It's the net, it can't really go away, can it?

*she says on the eve of a sun storm*

;-). Happy trails

True, but I have a more immediate need for the income.
