R.I.P. Ray Bradbury
Ray Bradbury — author of The Martian Chronicles, Fahrenheit 451, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and many more literary classics — died yesterday morning in Los Angeles, at the age of 91.

Well, shit. OK, no, you know what? I'm not going to be sad. He's more than earned his rest and his art will live forever. Can anyone really ask more than that? He touched millions with his writing and won't be forgotten.

I'll miss you, sir. Rest well.

my dad got me reading bradbury, clarke, tolkein, etc, when i was around ten. i absolutely bawled yesterday. you're right, bradbury is someone whose most people's exposure comes from school these days. the woman as i had for ninth grade english and then eleventh and twelfth graded journalism/yearbook and i are friends on facebook, and i gave her the news as soon as i found out. we read a lot of bradbury all through school, but she especially liked having us read his shorts. i feel like the world is a little less colorful today.
