Well, love them or hate them, you must see Series 7. Basically, this movie comes off as a 'marathon' viewing of the 7th series of a show called 'The Contenders', in which 6 people are picked at random, issued a Glock, and then must play the game, which ends when there is one man standing. You can't "quit", and you can't kill innocents, just each other. The winner goes into the next series with 5 new people...3 series of winning and you are free. Any other weapons you procure are fair game, any tactics are legal. You are follwed by a cameraman, you are tracked (no running for the border for you!), but past that, it's all you, baby.
This was a great show. It came off so much like a TV program that I was even sickened by the sappy-tuned little retrospectives...but that was just so appropriate that I enjoyed it anyway. They didn't miss a trick, either...graphics, slogans, even 'dramatic recreations'. We get to see Dawn, our returning champion, in her final run, which takes her back to her hometown that she left 15 years ago...and did we mention that Dawn is 8 months pregnant? Oh yeah, an angle that just BEGS to be exploited. THIS is what the good ol' reality-TV USofA is headed towards, if it doesn't get stuck on RollerBall and live gladiatorial combat first (neither of which I'd mind). Hell, I even got a kick out of the website.
CHeck it out...another I'll definitely add to my personal collection.
