Di's computer, "Tonguey", has been starting to make clicking noises as it runs...bad sign. Since she just got her bonus check from work, we went today to buy her a new hard drive. Simple enough, and she backed up the important things to floppy (since her second drive is not a separate drive, but a partitioned "D" drive), and she watched in paranoid silence as I replaced it and ran her recovery discs...it's a good thing she kept those, since I don't have a copy of Windows in the house. Needless to say, it went smooth and fine (we aren't talking something that needs a lot of technical skill here, folks). She is happily setting up her system again, with a whisper-quiet 30 GB Ultra ATA Maxtor drive as we speak (as I suspected, the offending drive was a Western Digital), and I got a couple games as thank you's.

Hey caliban, one of those games is 'Syberia', so next time you come down, we'll have to try and copy it. Hell, the other was the original 'Thief', if you want it.
