Let's ignore the validity of the story and event for the moment. It's bad enough that we, as a country, have become so badly jaded towards the news that it's bercome more entertainment than factual reporting anyway. It's also bad enough that Hollywood can't seem to make anything new or creative, and seems to prefer making bad sequels and remakes. Now we have to start taking news stories and making entertainment out of them? The story is hyped and spread long past what it deserved, and now it's gonna be brou8ght back up and presented to the public...and now done dramatic and incoprrectly, so that the story that people remember is not the truth but rather some version that is incorrect and over-dramatized? Fuck.
Now, add to that the fact that we did this whole rescue, and afterwards little factoids started coming out that made it sound less like a heroic rescue and more like a carefully planned American attempt to divert some of the negative emotion this unpopular attack caused. Hell, even Lynch herself says that the military manipulated the story for the press, claiming that it showed her as heroic when she wasn't, claiming she was shot when she was not, and documaneting injuries she has no recollection of receiving. "They used me as a way to symbolize all this stuff," she said in an excerpt from the interview, posted Friday on the Web. "It hurt in a way that people would make up stories that they had no truth about," she said.
Last, but not least, that fact that the advertisiong for it looks VERY SUSPICIOUSLY like the ads and poster for 'Saving Private Ryan'. That's just pathetic.
