For those that haven't heard, Brett Favre's dad passed away. For those that don't know him, he's a star player for the Green Bay Packers (football), has been for years. Anyway, the next day, he went on and played a game, and people are applauding him for this. Sick, sad, and pathetic, says I.
Now, I'm already in an argument about this elsewhere, so let me just state that again. I find that to be really pathetic. I know that his father was the one that got him into football, and I know that Brett says that he feels that it's what his father would have wanted, but I find that to be just stupid. Fine, go ahead, call me what you like. It's bad enough when people make the money they do to play SPORTS...not to do a job, but to play a GAME, and it's even sadder the obsession that this country (and several others) has with professional sports, but to then go on and keep playing at a time like this? Fuck.
Any other job, you lose a family member, people expect that you will take the time to do what needs to be done, etc. Pro sports? No way, apparently. You'll get back out there and play, and they'll applaud you for it. Fuck pro sports...what a sham.
I hate it here.
