Recognition

When you do something artistic, the best reason to do it is because you LIKE it. Sure, money's nice, and accolades are cool, but if the first and foremost reason for what you do is NOT that you enjoy it, then, as far as I am concerned, it isn't art. Now, that being said, being paid or recognized for something that you do is great, especially if you did it in the first place just because you enjoy it.

What brought all this on?

I got a response to a comment I left in a community; the person didn't realize I was a member, but upon seeing my name, found the name familiar. Apparently, they live down the hall from an LJ friend of mine, who has spoken (favourably) many times about my art. Talk about out of the blue, eh?

Just felt really good. Good way to start the day.
