Well, according to a news source, Andy really IS back. 20 years later, Kaufman seems to have reappeared, apologizing for having to lie to his family and friends for faking his death. he says he did it to secure his place as a legendary performance artist, and that he's spent the last 20 years "traveling the world, working odd jobs and practicing transcendental meditation". He claims he probably will keep his low-profile life, making the occasional impromptu appearance. At his official website, there are pix of his recent trip to the Bunny Ranch, in 'Tony Clifton' character costume. The site claims that DNA tests have proven that he really is who he says he is.
I'm skeptical, to say the least. Come on, his "official site" is a blog? His e-mail address at Hotmail? The release, not through AP or someone big but through PRWeb™? Conflicting stories of who interviewed him and who did these DNA tests? It's got holes, and someone could easily do the costume and claim to be him. Hey, maybe it's true...but it seems to me a story like this would get covered in big entertainment news.
