Captain Christian, Part the Second
Well, our friend eyesofdavid and I had a wonderful conversation for a nice chunk of the evening. So nice, in fact, that David decided it was too beautiful to keep, and, like any good christian, let it go free. Me, though, I like memories; I like being able to look back over the things I love. So, I thought you guys might also like to see what he had to say...

So, he responds to my kind-spirited challenge from earlier:

"My only teacher is Jesus... As for me being man enough, to "discuss religion", I will not. Sorry to dis-appoint you. I am not trying to prove any point, I am posting in a Christian Channel, giving links, and quotes for Christians to use if they so wish. As for Holy Text, I believe Christianity is the truth, and that Jesus is the way the truth and the life. This has already been proven, By Saint Paul, Thomas Aquanis, Augustine, etc... I am satisfied. I only offered this info for bible following christians. If non-christians use it, great. How ever I am happy with the Truth, and all I can say and pray is the hope that you will find Jesus as the way, truth, and life. God bless, and may the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be upon you."

Well, that was kind of him to wish me well, as he brushes me off. My thoughts on the matter:

But by refusing to have an open discussion, not only are you closing your mind to everything, you are in essence admitting that you cannot defend yourself. You might as well stick your fingers in your ears and jump around singing 'LA LA LA I'M NOT LISTENING'.

I am not and will not tell you that you do not have the right to post as you wish, nor am I putting down your choice of life and salvation. I happen to think that this kind of choice is HIGHLY personal, and cannot be determined by anyone else. I commend your devotion.

I am also glad to hear of your happiness in Jehovah's teachings. I appreciate your well-wishings, and your hopes that your Savior looks favorably upon me, as I in turn hope that mine looks favorably upon you.

This is the thing I think you may have missed. I am not trying to make you think you are wrong, nor am I trying to convince you to another way of thinking. Your devotion seemed to make you a prime person to discuss ethics and traditions with, and, as a scholar and researcher, I had hoped that you might be willing to share insights.

Unfortunately, I see now that you are just another closed-minded parrot of teachings taken out of context, and used for your own petty skirmishes.

All *I* can say is that I pray Jesus also looks over you, as I'm sure he does, and helps you to become one who understands, not just reads.

Yes, fear not, David has a good reason for his reticence...

"I am a fool for Christ, thank you. I do discuss philosophy, quite a bit, its why i get a's in all philosophy courses, and my teachers ask me for insight. Maybe I mis-lead you, but as a youth leader, full time student, part time swim instructor, while trying to have a prayer life, and social life, doesn't give me much time to talk, nor do I see the need, for my quest for truth has been long advanced, maybe this winter break, when I am free?"

Not one to pass up a returned challenge, I respo9nd:

You see no need to talk? That would be a truly sad existence indeed. I assume that you mean only that you see no need to defend your position, and, as said, I am not attacking your position for it to be defended. If you mean you feel no need to discuss your position, then that would make you a fairly poor minister and leader.

Also, I find it interesting that you do not 'have time to talk', but you have more than enough time to prattle on about how 'evil' things in the world are, and to quote endless scripture to back yourself up. Your 'quest for truth has been long advanced', and yet, you have not had the time to see the world, or even to have stepped upon the path. Philosophy, my friend, is much more than what a textbook says it is. It is experience, life experience, and NO book or teacher or class can give you that.

Still, if winter break comes, and you would like to perhaps follow this thread, or others, you know how to find me. I will gladly engage in discourse.

Until then, perhaps...

Well, David apprently, for all the time he doesn't have, has time for one last fling:

"actually what I said about harry potter took me about 5 min total to put together.. As for me not having time, thats because i try to make my life fruitful. Because the most important thing to me is talking with God, and listening to the many things He speaks to me. The next is doing His will. You seek to debate too much. You are still rattled about something I hope you figure it out."

At this point though, David decided he was too much of a chickenshit to actually stand up like a man and defend himself. Not surprising, really, since thus far, he had nothing of substance to say so far anyway. His adult and educated response was to delete the posts (except for the one he made about being a fool for Christ), and barred me from posting to his journal again. Well, Dave, I appreciate you showing your true colors. Allow me to make one final response to you.

*LOL*...OK, now you have proven yourself for what you are, my friend. Pardon my frankness.

Let's see here. I seek to debate too much. So far, the only 'debate' has come from you, bud. I offered a discussion, for MUTUAL benefit and knowledge, in fact, I went out of my way to say, more than once, that I was not arguing a point here.

You try to make your life 'fruitful', and yet you admit you have no time for interaction, beyond your religious-related things, oh, and the swim team. How fruitful is that? Didn't Jesus go OUT among the people? But, no, you have no time, I forgot. You are too busy telling the rest of the world they are wrong.

As for what I am rattled about, well, that is easy. I'm annoyed that you, like so many others, are so blind to the world.

Guess Jehovah is yelling a little too loud in your ear all those 'many things' he's saying. You know, most people refer to that as schizophrenia. Had you been willing to even open your eyes, much less your mind, I might have believed differently. But all you opened was your mouth.

Another lost soul. I pity you. I am actually, truly happy that you are content in your life and choices. May Jehovah look favorably upon you, bro'. They say he looks after fools and children.

And by your own admissions, you are both.

It's been nice having you confirm the things I am learning along MY quest for Truth.

*I* shall not be barring you from here. Mine is an open forum, say what you like. I'm able to back up *MY* convictions.

*singing*

Plastic Jesus... Plastic Jesus
Sittin' on the dashboard of my car
Well he don't slip, and he don't slide
Cause his ass is magnetized
Sittin' on the dashboard of my car

Oh.....
I don't care if it rains or freezes,
Long as I have my Plastic Jesus,
Ridin' on the dashboard of my car.....
Even when I'm going ninety,
I know I have the Almighty,
Ridin' on the dashboard of my car!"

Idiot
Most people are more than happy to discuss their religious beliefs, esp. to prove you wrong. This guy is a sheep and without his minister telling him what to say, he has nothing to say. As for GOD talking in his ear...I know plenty of people in white coats who would love to chat with him. I don't have a problem with Christianity, it's the people who use it to close their minds that I have problems with. From all I've heard about Jeusus he was a pretty cool guy who had time for everyone and didn't condemn anyone. How can a GOD of love actually want followers who condemn, hate, and close thier minds and hearts?

Re: Idiot
Of course, I'm sure the majority of things you heard about Jesus comes from the bible. I mean what do you think they are going to say.... "Jesus, the son of Lord our God, and out savior, was an asshole. He raped virgins, drank the blood of the dead, stole money from widows, used newborns for golf clubs. But he died for our sins, so he's allright"?

Oh, defenetely. Short of drinking blood of the dead.... it's so much sweeter when it's oxygenated.

Re:
Yep. I was amazed at his attitude, his complete lack of initiative, and his wonderfully blind eyes. I really am happy for him...with people like him around, I feel much more justified and proud to be able to speak on my own behalf.
