Tuba City, Arizona, July 3...Danzig Eats Floor.

Seems Glenn Danzig let his 'asshole' side get the better of him. I'm still trying to get the whole story, but the video really says all that needs to be said. Backstage at some show, Danzig is talking to Danny Marianinho of the North Side Kings. Seems there's a bit of a dispute over stage time. The important part of the dialogue goes something like this:

Danzig: Why can't you go on after us?
Danny: Because your crew is tearing down the lights and sound. We just drove 6 hours to play here.
Danzig: FUCK YOU MOTHER FUCKER!

...at which point, Danzig decides to shove Danny (who is a pretty good-sized guy). Danny is knocked back, and reacts as any large punk-band man would: he comes forward, fist first, and puts Danzig on the floor. Knocks him right the fuck down.

With regards to the incident, Marianinho posted the following message on the BLABBERMOUTH.NET comment boards:

"Before crazy rumors begin to spread I would like to explain what happened: NORTH SIDE KINGS were to play with DANZIG last night in Tuba City, Arizona. To make a long story short the whole show was a disaster and a few bands got bumped off. Mr. Danzig (or his management??) refused to push back the original scheduled time slot so NORTH SIDE KINGS and RAPID FIRE would have to play 'after' his set. Whatever — we agreed to play later because we drove 6 hours and didn't feel like going home without playing.

Needless to say, as soon as DANZIG was finished, the venue turned on the lights and DANZIG's crew and the staging company began to take the stage apart almost instantly. I confronted Mr. Danzig backstage while he was signing autographs and told him I thought he was an asshole because of his 'rock star' attitude and no consideration towards the FEW other bands that got bumped off tonight. In a fit of rage he turned around and slammed me into the wall yelling 'Fuck you, motherfucker,' trying to be a big, tough guy in front of his fans. I, in self-defense, punched him in the face, knocking him out as he was attacking me again. He went down, bleeding from his mouth, eyes rolled back, and in shock that he got knocked to the floor so quickly. A friend happened to tape the entire incident and this is all documented. Many witnesses saw him attack me, and I did what any man would do. It was unfortunate that this went the way it did — and I hoped Glenn Danzig learned a valuable lesson tonight: Do not lay your hands on anyone unless you can handle what may happen. I apologize for nothing, except for the poor little kids that had to witness this big asshole get his ass kicked in a matter of seconds...

I would never pick a fight with a black belt, I am not some big, tough guy looking for trouble. I have gotten my fair share of ass-kickings. We have been filming a ton of footage for almost a year now, and had three camera guys at this show to film footage. Tons of tape from the entire day. Danzig freaked the fuck out completely way out of life. His site banned my guitarist from making any statements on [the official DANZIG fan site] "The7thhouse" in regards to their bullshit comment saying I 'used a sharp object.' When the video is posted you will see clear as hell that there is nothing in my hands. Maybe he cut his mouth on his 'vampire' teeth! Or maybe is face just opened up? Who cares — I was excited to play that show and was not expecting a fight. I was in mid conversation when he attacked me. And for the record — Danzig is NOT a little man. He may be short, but he is in great physical shape. Better than me, and I am at least 12 years younger. He threw me pretty hard and I reacted like anyone on this site would have. NORTH SIDE KINGS is not a touring band and really doesn't care about being popular. We are a hardcore band that does not want to tour. We are happy playing a few shows a year. And I wanted to clarify the subject before he put out some bullshit story — which his crew has already made crazy allegations. Still to this time he has not tried to contact me to apologize for being a mental case...Once again, I liked DANZIG — otherwise we wouldn't have even been on the show. The guy is out of control. The video shows it all — and it was very uncalled for on his end. He caught me off guard when he attacked me — but I caught him with a good jab. That's it in a nutshell. The lesson here: respect the bands on your shows cause we are all people. Maybe when he is in Europe he will be more polite to the local bands on his shows. It's a shame this course had to be taken."
