The Catholic Church decided not to recognize the Communion. This young child, through no fault of her own, will be unable to practice her religion, all because a bunch of fuddy-duddy assholes don't think it counts. Call me crazy, but isn't it symbolic anyway? Seems to me that the important thing is the practice of the ceremony and the doctrine behind it...and if someone's life-threatening condition makes them use a rice cracker instead of a wheat cracker, where exactly is the harm?
This isn't some sort of Biblical ruling, this is simply a church policy...but tell me, really, do you honestly think God is going to make a point of being pissed about this, or do you think he'd rather have happy, healthy worshippers? I don't claim to know what any deity (other than myself, ha ha) thinks, but seems to me that he wouldn't be quite so dogmatic about it. I mean, come on, it's not as if this is someone that doesn't WANT to follow church doctrine.
Fuckers...enjoy YOUR relationship to the Creator or Deity of YOUR choice...and don't let any annoying middleman try to tell you what that Deity says.
