Hallucinating? Again?
OK, dammit...this is actually starting to worry me.

For those that don't know, I have occasional audio hallucinations. They are minor, most of the time, and don't really fuck with my day, so I don't give them a lot of thought. I mean, OK, who cares, right? So what if I hear voices sometimes, not voices I can understand, usually, just low murmuring voices in another room, or outside...that no one else seems to hear. Hell, it's not always voices, sometimes just sounds...and they aren't deafening, just there.

No, I have no idea why. No, I've never been checked out for it. Yes, I'm aware that my hearing, in general, isn't great (too many years of loud music, I suspect), resulting in tinnitus from time to time.

But, just a moment ago, it was a radio. Or maybe a walkie-talkie. Anyway, a voice, sorta fuzzy as if through a speaker. I couldn't tell what it said, but it was a female voice, mid-to-high range pitch, and definably spoken words...it faded in and then faded out again, lasting no longer than, say, two seconds. Considering the direction that it felt like it came from, it might have been outside the window, except that the window was closed and no one was outside of it or passing by (I checked) and it was too clear sounding to be through the window, anyway. It might also have been the stereo...except that the stereo is off (checked that, too).

Which leaves just my own addled brain. Oh, joy.

My friend Keith n' I were driving around with a crappy CB Radio that I picked up from Radio Shack. We were outside my house in my car and we were blabbin' away, then came inside. My brother said he heard us in the car through the stereo....which was turned off.

Not to say I don't believe your condition, but CB Radios could be a possibility.
God of Thunder and Rock'n'Roll: Cerebus (WTF)archmage on August 24th, 2004 12:59 pm (UTC)
No, it's true, that can happen...and, in this case, I hope that's all it really is, a random CB signal that got caught just right.

That's the bad part, is that, a lot of the time, I can't establish what is really me hallucinating, and what is just something I hear that no one else does. This happens a lot, that I'll ask Di "What's that noise?", and she hears nothing, and it turns out it's a radio that was left on, low, and she just didn't hear it and I did, or a toilet running...but there's just as many times that ui hear shit that no one else does, and there's no explanation for it...and no reason others should be missing it.

So, if I'm here alone, and I hear something, i get no confirmation. Sucks, huh?

Indeed. :(

you are in an apartment and the wall registers often will carry sound through them sound is carried by air or wind right ? if there was a draft isnt it possible for a draft to carry possible TV sounds from another apartment? maybe it was built cheaply and it carried over from a few apts down or above who knows . just a possible answer to cool your nerves

Re: well
Well, we only share one wall with another apartment (more like a duplex, really), and they aren't home...and besides, that wall is in another room. I'm hoping it's a case of the stereo speakers picking up a random CB signal or something.

That's creepy.
I had something similar once.
It sounded like a bunch of people whispering.
All horror show style.

Yeah, only I get it a lot. LOL...and people wonder why I'm a bit weird?

I am on medication for my auditory and visual hallucinations......gives new meaning to talking to myself!

You might want to get it checked out sweetie...it can't hurt.

What about fillings? I've heard people can pick up broadcasts through their fillings. I've also heard music and sounds coming from a radio that was off. Or perhaps you have super dog-like hearing, picking up on sounds no one but the pooches hear? Any of these options is better than schitophrenia.
God of Thunder and Rock'n'Rollarchmage on August 24th, 2004 05:13 pm (UTC)
Nope, no fillings...never even had a cavity. As for super hearing, sometimes i wonder, since I'll hear little things that others don't...but who knows. Actually, schizophrenia ain't such a bad trip, if you are aware of it. ;)

Never had a cavity? Wow! My dentist used to joke that we should just back a cement truck up-
Schitzophrenia is a terrible disease. My brother has paranoid schitophrenia, and before he started taking his meds *shudder*. It's an ugly ugly disease.

I heard "voices" when I was younger. Haven't heard them since I was in high school though. So, I don't think you're weird. :) It does suck to not have anyone else around for a "reality check" though. My greatest fear is waking up crazy.

Amen to that, sistah.
kitty_blackwell on August 24th, 2004 05:43 pm (UTC)
Ghosts? Alien implants? Who knows....as long as they voices aren't telling you to do weird things, it doesn't sound like schizophrenia! (I have two skitzos in my family, so I should know!)

Sorry to here that doll. Please tell me that your not having visuals as well. If you are remember not too try to play with them and freak yourself out even more. You know how to reach me if you need me. I'll try to give you a call sometime soon - your worrying me too.

Re: halucinations
Nah, not visual. THANKFULLY not visual. Guess I'm just a messed up guy, huh? ;)

As for playing with them, no. Mostly I just try to figure out if I'm hearing things or if they are some legit noise.

Re: halucinations
Good. I still remember the time you tried to play with the visual ones and go pretty freaked.
