For those that don't know, I have occasional audio hallucinations. They are minor, most of the time, and don't really fuck with my day, so I don't give them a lot of thought. I mean, OK, who cares, right? So what if I hear voices sometimes, not voices I can understand, usually, just low murmuring voices in another room, or outside...that no one else seems to hear. Hell, it's not always voices, sometimes just sounds...and they aren't deafening, just there.
No, I have no idea why. No, I've never been checked out for it. Yes, I'm aware that my hearing, in general, isn't great (too many years of loud music, I suspect), resulting in tinnitus from time to time.
But, just a moment ago, it was a radio. Or maybe a walkie-talkie. Anyway, a voice, sorta fuzzy as if through a speaker. I couldn't tell what it said, but it was a female voice, mid-to-high range pitch, and definably spoken words...it faded in and then faded out again, lasting no longer than, say, two seconds. Considering the direction that it felt like it came from, it might have been outside the window, except that the window was closed and no one was outside of it or passing by (I checked) and it was too clear sounding to be through the window, anyway. It might also have been the stereo...except that the stereo is off (checked that, too).
Which leaves just my own addled brain. Oh, joy.
