And then, of course, the Whiners got involved. You know the Whiners. All those groups out there who are bound and determined to save everyone from themselves, because they feel they know what is best...and what is best doesn't ever seem to be "educate", oh no, they are MUCH too busy "censoring" to ever take any fucking RESPONSIBILITY for anything, or allow anyone else to do so, either.
Here's the commercial in question. Frankly, I liked it...very nice. but not so, say seven groups who signed a letter to General Motors (including 'Consumers Union', 'Public Citizen', 'Centre for Auto Safety', 'Consumer Federation of America' and 'Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety'). Apparently, this is "the most dangerous" spot they have seen in recent years, which "could encourage children to take their parents' cars for a drive".
Yeah, because we all know how much kids are influenced by media, right? I mean, all these violent games, and crazy TV, and sexy movies...and look at the child violence rate, why it's simply...um...less...than it's been. Yeah, that's right, go check the figures. Beyond that, this doesn't "encourage" these kids any more than any TV show about anything else "encourages" them to do anything else.
Fuck, humans, get a clue, and get with the program. Take some responsibility for yourself and your children, actually be a parent, and when you teach them right from wrong, they will KNOW right form wrong...and then you don't have to worry that they'll do something incredibly stupid. But we seem to have lost that little factoid in a sea of lawsuits, all designed to lay the blame for whatever dumbfuck thing someone did at the feet of someone un-fucking-related to it.
Yeah, I'm pissed. This kind of shit really gets to me. These annoying-ass 'watchdog groups' think they know what's best...and instead, the bile that they are spewing just promotes worse and worse situations. where are we gonna be in another twenty years? Ten? Even just five years? It's getting to be that the general attitude is much like Krusty the Clown's: "Don't Blame Me, I Didn't Do It!" The fact is, though, that we ARE doing it...and if we aren't careful, we're going to legislate ourselves right out of the equation...and then it'll be those same laws that restrain you to your room, waiting until they send the next nutrient pellet to your feedtube...while you mindlessly stare at the TV, for another day full of bland idiocy.
